Feature Requests
-
This is a great plugin. Thanks for developing it! After using it for a few days now, there are several features that I think would make it even better:
- Allow the user to select the colors associated with tags (either with unique identifiers we can target with CSS or even via the admin UI). Some of the current hard-coded color choices (the contrast between background and foreground text) do not meet accessibility standards.
- In the widget drawer, make the entire individual update area clickable to view the full update. Currently, the user needs to click the update title, which I think many users will miss (particularly since the entire update area gets a hover effect, suggesting it may be clickable).
- Add a footer area with customizable text or button (e.g., a “view all updates” button in case a limited number of updates are shown in the widget drawer.
- Allow the admin to trigger the opening of the sidebar with a custom link (such as another button or a menu item link). For example, any anchor tag with the class “updates” could trigger the drawer.
- Allow the admin to specify content types where the widget is displayed, not just specific pages. For example, I use the widget on an LMS and ecommerce site and want it to show on the ecommerce pages, but not on the LMS pages.
- Allow the user to close the widget drawer by clicking anywhere outside the drawer (in addition to the dedicated close button).
Thanks again for a great plugin and for considering my suggestions!
