Featured Image is incorrectly cropping

My featured images are cropping strangely, and cutting off large chunks of the picture. Is there a way to fix this?

For example, in this post my face is cut off: http://theworldwideopen.com/30-before-30-get-lasik/

The hollywood sign is cut off here: http://theworldwideopen.com/new-year-new-goals/

And so on. It’s gotten to the point where I’ve stopped using featured images, but that seems silly and I feel like there must be a (hopefully) easy fix.
