File Manager

    Hi all,

    In the previous day I used to work with another CMS that had a file manager, apart from the themes and plugins sections.

    I was wondering why ww.wp.xz.cn does not provide a file manager that is not necessarily a plugin but a major function within WordPress??

    Can you please respond to me and explain why this feature has so far not been included?

    Because WordPress is a CMS and generic file management is outside of that scope. Also because it is a bit of an edge case and file management is left to the host.

    That does not mean there are no add-ons (plugins) that can address a user’s need for that.

    But those are add-ons (which is not bad, it’s why WordPress is extendable that way) and not part of the core WordPress software base.

    Could you please keep it here and not send people to your site for an article you wrote?

    I’m not accusing you of anything, honest. But some less than honorable people (and that’s such a huge euphemism) have done that for traffic.

    If you want to talk about file managers built into WordPress that’s fine but lets keep the conversation here. Also I am moving this topic back to Everything else WordPress because you were right to post there. This is an Everything else WordPress topic.

    Yes, I’m sorry! I was just trying to make a point I wrote about today.

    In that, that it is virtually impossible to solve major errors within WordPress. I think it should therefore be made possible to include a core feature like File Management.
