# File upload problem

 * Hi,
    I have a problem with the file upload tool of WordPress 1.5. First: the 
   permissions are set correctly.
 * When I press “upload file” WordPress reports “File of type is not allowed.” It
   seems that the PHP variable `$_FILES['img1']['name']` can’t be read. Since I’m
   not very familiar with PHP I don’t know where to start.

 * _You can upload files with the extension jpg, jpeg, gif, png as long as they 
   are no larger than 200 KB._
 * Are you using an extension other than those listed?

 * No, extension is jpg and jpg is configured. I changed the upload.php and added
   an echo for the `$_FILES` variable, but it is empty. May this be a configuration
   error of PHP?

 * Even though you can set the upload filesize limit in WordPress, there is also
   a similar upload filesize limit in PHP itself. PHP’s upload filesize limit may
   be set too low or may not be set at all. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to set
   it.
