For now can you use something like Notepad++ to do the search-and-replacing? By copying the code out of the editor and pasting it into Notepad++, etc.

I am trying to cut down on the number of apps I need open at any one time. That’s why I love WordPress, no more fTP!

… until you make a mistake and bring the entire site down. Then you will always need to use FTP. Personally, I think it is highly inadvisable to make changes to any theme file without first ensuring that you have a backup copy.
