Hi, Can i first say that having used Tablepress for a few tables on my website I am impressed with the amount of functionality and options you offer to allow us to present data in an attractive way!

I have been having problems with getting a fixed header to stay where I want it to. I have downloaded your Fixed Header Extension and followed the instructions but I can’t get it to work.

The table contains data which is relevant to an image which scrolls alongside it. This has been built in a Themeco/Cornerstone page containing one section and two columns. The image (in the left hand column) scrolls toward the top of the page and then stops but the data table (in the right hand column) does not. The image scrolling is controlled by another WP plugin.

I have looked in the support forums for what I thought would be an easy fix but I can’t find anything.

    Can you help?

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Can you please post a link to the page with the table where this problem happens, so that I can take a direct look? Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

Hi, thanks for your quick reply.

The site is currently offline. I can enable it when I know you want to look at it.

Let me know when you are ready and I can get it live in a few minutes.

You can see the issue here – http://ascocomponents.com/laminations/ei_laminations/

    Hi Andy,

I do see the site, but only with the message [table “” not found /] ?

    Hi,

ok, now I see it. It seems like you added the Shortcode parameter into the table ID field on the table’s “Edit” screen. This is the wrong field! Please change the ID back to a number there.
Then, the new Shortcode has to be added on the page where you now added the table.

    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,

That seems to have fixed the header but the data in the table can be seen scrolling above the header once it has fixed position.

Please could you look at the issue and let me know what you think?

    Hi Andy,

    great!

The header offset that you choose is too large. Try 75 instead of 150px.

    OK Tobias,

So I have to get the table header to stick directly underneath the page header?

There is no way to have the header stick further down the page without having that scrolling effect?

    Regards

    Hi,

no problem, you are very welcome! 🙂 Good to hear that this helped!

No, having it stick somewhere else is not really possible.
Except: Instead of the FixedHeader Extension, you could use vertical scrolling in the table. For that, please try adding this Shortcode parameter (without the FixedHeader parameters!):

    datatables_scrolly=200px

The value gives you the height of the table container.

    Hi Tobias,

I trued that but it also changed the width of the table and horizontal scrolling appeared.

I think the fixed header will be my best option.

    Hi Andy,

ah, yes, this might happen. Then stick with the FixedHeader 🙂

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
