I just installed Photonic to display slideshows from my Flickr albums. When I try to configure a Photonic block in the Gutenberg editor, it hangs forever on the second screen after I select “Current User” and click Next. I was able to get shortcode slideshow display working, very slowly, sometimes. It still takes nearly 30 seconds to load, and often fails first with the cURL timeout error 28.

Even with nothing on the page except the shortcode, it also takes 30+ seconds to Save Draft on my post in WordPress editor, or just fails to save at all.

    Here is my shortcode: [gallery type='flickr' view='photosets' photoset_id='72177720309748775' media='all' tag_mode='any' sort='date-posted-desc' layout='strip-below' caption='title' thumb_size='q' main_size='z' fx='fade' controls='show' ]

I have set up my API and user ID info, disabled my CDN, set “transpiled code only” and I have timeout set to 30. I have Loading Mode set to Javascript, and Performance logging turned on. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer!

I struggled with this for hours today, and it started moving faster after I moved the post out of Draft mode into Published. I have no idea why that should matter… but it seems to be working now.

Draft vs. Published posts should have zero impact on API calls. If I were to guess, this was likely an issue on your hosting platform, where outbound calls to Flickr might have been operating slowly. I tried your user id (derived from your photoset id), and was able to retrieve your photosets in a fraction of a second on my site.
