Font color problems

Hello, I have got a strange bug on my website.
On the top right, in the search form, in mozilla firefox, the search box ends just where it should, 1 px above the border, while in chrome, opera and IE is for some reason 2 pixels above the border.

Also, for some reason, the default – text color is gray on all browsers except for Internet Explorer (you type in white, as you should), but I would also like to make the default color white. It is ESPECIALLY gray on google chrome and opera, and only slightly in Mozilla Firefox.

And one more bug: In google chrome, my font is pretty strange. It is neat and thin on all browsers, but in google chrome it becomes slightly thicker, which ruins the view.

Do you guys have any solutions?
