 * I need a plugin for a basic free membership site.
    I want to be able to protect
   some data / pages until users are approved. I need the users to be able to edit/
   update their profile information. I want a form with custom fields and ideally
   would like to have some other forms available for the user to update certain 
   info. So once they register can come back and add more info, possibly to a linked
   form? I want to be able to layout the form in more than one column.
 * I am working with simple membership and the form builder addon at the moment.
   
   Is there anything else where I can have multiple columns and link more forms 
   to user. Access to the database where I can approve members etc.
 * Any suggestion or ideas please.
