 * Is anyone else experiencing this issue with Contact Forms 7? Any solution ideas?
I’ve been using CF7 with no problems for years, but this just started happening
   this week.
 * 1. If I am logged in to my site I have no problem submitting forms on my site
 * 2. If I or any of my clients are NOT logged into the site, forms will not submit
   and generate this error
 * > Sorry, there was an error. Please be sure JavaScript and Cookies are enabled
   > in your browser and try again.
 * 3. Anyone who gets this error is using a browser with javascript and cookies
   enabled

 * I haven’t seen the error associated with it, but there are a bunch of posts here
complaining about version 4.8 of CF7, which requires anonymous REST API access,
not submitting forms for non-logged-in users and just giving the “traffic circle”.
Rolling back to version 4.7 fixes it.
 * If you are using a security plugin that disables anonymous REST API access, that
   would be the cause.

 * I had the exact same issue, but with WP Forms. I do not know what the solution
to the problem is or why what caused it in the first place and ended up reverting
back the themes very basic contact form.

 * Problem solved! I tried deactivating plugins I’m not using one by one until it
worked. Shutting off WP-spamshield did the trick.

 * Hi [@andytruetone](https://wordpress.org/support/users/andytruetone/),
 * I’m sorry to hear about the issue you had with CF7 and WP-SpamShield. There was
an issue with the two when CF7 upgraded to 4.8 because some major changes were
made. We added a compatibility fix in version 1.9.12. (Please see the [changelog](https://www.redsandmarketing.com/plugins/wp-spamshield/changelog/?ver=1912#ver_1912).)
 * If you have the issue after that, please see [Troubleshooting Guide Step 9](https://www.redsandmarketing.com/plugins/wp-spamshield/troubleshooting-guide/?step=09#step_09),
   and submit a [support request](https://www.redsandmarketing.com/plugins/wp-spamshield/support/).
We’ll help you resolve the issue in no time.
 * If you need a temporary fix, you don’t need to deactivate WP-SpamShield — you
can just disable the CF7 protection in the WPSS settings.
 * CF7 is our favorite contact form, and we use it on our own sites, and client
sites, so we will always work hard to ensure maximum compatibility between the
   two plugins. 🙂

 * I installed CF7 and attempted to solve the issue by sending through my providers
SMTP server after, having read about it. Seemed to work, but it didn’t.
 * Now I have disabled spam protection for CF7 in WP SpamShield and hopefully that’s
   the end of it.

 * We only recommend using that as a temporary measure. If you’re still having any
issues, we’ll be happy to help you resolve them — just submit a [support request](https://www.redsandmarketing.com/plugins/wp-spamshield/support/).
