Front page with posts and sidebar

Hello,

I’m trying to show latest posts on the from page along with the sidebar widgets. I created a page called “Latest News” and set the style to default. But it seems no matter what options I choose when customizing I get the small posts with no sidebar.

I’d like the posts to be the width of the static home page.

Also, how do I reduce the spacing between post and page titles and the contemt?
