 * Is it possible to import an existing complete photo directory on the FTP in such
   a way that the existing directory names and subdirectories as such can be found
   automatically in the gallery?
 * If so, in which folder would I have to move my existing directories and subdirectories
   including images?

 * You can ftp a tree of folders containing photos to …/wp-content/wppa-depot/<your
   username>
 * Using the wppa import function you can import it. The folder structure will be
   converted to album structure and the photos will be imported into the albums.
