function the_post_thumbnail() in a custom template

    hi,

    how can i include a post thumbnail into the template? is there any tutorial for using templates?

    i used this:
    $pdf_output .= the_post_thumbnail();

    but i got error message:
    mPDF error: Some data has already been output to browser, can't send PDF file
