 * I attempted to edit the Sydney theme ‘function.php’ code and now my website has
   crashed and the only page I can access now is the function.php editor screen.
   I copied the default code to a word document in case I needed to restore the
   code to orignial, but after pasting it back in the code field, it is still giving
   me the same issue. The error says ‘HTTP ERROR 500’ and that my page isn’t working.
   I’m not sure how to fix this issue, any ideas?

 * Hello there,
 * You can get the original code of the functions.php here: [https://themes.svn.wordpress.org/sydney/1.31/functions.php](https://themes.svn.wordpress.org/sydney/1.31/functions.php)
   and copy/paste its code.
 * As an information, editing the main theme’s functions isn’t recommended. Use
   child theme’s instead, please. So the changes will retain once the theme gets
   updated in the future.
 * We have a premade child theme for Sydney already. You might be interested to
   use it as a starting point to do modifications. It can be downloaded [here](http://athemes.com/download/sydney-child-theme/).

 * Unfortunately this isn’t the fix I am looking for. The original code isn’t even
   working when I paste it back in.
