gallery short code not working

    so i created a meow gallery using gutenberg.
    i clicked on the block and then clicked on ‘edit as html’

    and i see the below…
    [gallery ids="1521,1509,1508,1507,1506,1505,1504,1503,1502,1501,1500,1498,1497,1496,1495"][/gallery]

    i tried adding
    [gallery ids="1521,1509,1508,1507,1506,1505,1504,1503,1502,1501,1500,1498,1497,1496,1495" layout="tiles"][/gallery]

    ultimately i just want to sort it randomly. but i thought something as the above would for sure work. but it breaks. whats wrong?
