    Hello
We are trying to implement GDPR, could you please answer the following questions about your plugin which we use?
    • Does your plugin set cookies?
    • How many cookies does it set?
    • What are the names of the cookies?
    • What is their function? – Can you please categorise them as either –
    A) Necessary
    B) Preferences
    C) Statistics
    D) Marketing
    • Does the plugin need these cookies to function?
    • Where is the code which sets these cookies? (Please provide folder name, file name and line number if available).
    • Do you have any plans to alter your plugin for GDPR?
We thank you very much for your help.

    Hello, my friend,

Nice question and a pretty timely one!

Yes, we do set a cookie! It’s name is resolution, it’s function is to anonymously track the size of the user’s screen. I think it should be classified as A, a necessary cookie, because the plugin definitely needs it to function! The cookie is set in the root plugin directory, in file adaptive-images-front.php in line 42.

Right now there are no plans to alter anything for GDPR. The main reasons for this is that a) we do not track any personal data and b) the cookie is necessary for the plugin to function properly.

Let me know if you need anything else!

    Cheers,
    Takis

    Hello,

Are you still not planning to eliminate the cookie?
I really like the plugin and I understand that you don’t track anything with that cookie, but some clients are afraid of the cookie policy and GDPR…

    Hi, Roberto,

It is actually very-very difficult, if not impossible, to have the same functionality without the resolution cookie. I am really sorry about that, but it is really a technical issue we cannot overcome.

However, everyone should be rest assured that a) no personal data are held in that cookie b) it is a first-party cookie and c) it can very easily be explained in your cookie policy that it is a plain functional cookie and nothing more.

I totally respect everyone’s considerations, but in this case there is absolutely nothing to worry about and, on the contrary, there is so much to gain by keeping and using it in order to massively reduce the size of your images!

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Takis
