    When the form option is set to single opt-in, any form submission results in a “general error” message. When it is changed to double opt-in, the form works and redirects the user correctly. Is there a way to find out the reason for this?

    Wordpress: 5.1.1
    Mailchimp plugin: 4.5.1

    What is the full and exact error message you get to see?
    Is there any additional information in the error log on MailChimp for Wp > Other page?

    It’s possible that MailChimp blocked your account from single opt-in for some reason.
