# General settings missing from WordPress menu

 * Hello!
 * Writing b/c General settings is completely missing from my WP menu. This is the
   one where you change your tagline.
 * A bit of background: I have not updated to WP 4.7 yet. A few days ago, I did 
   update to it, but doing so crashed my site (500 error). Bluehost fixed it so 
   I could get back in, but in so doing, uninstalled the update. I’m paranoid now
   about re-installing it, though I know I’m going to have to at some point, but
   I want to do some reading first.

 * It seems your host may be [having some issues of late](https://wordpress.org/search/bluehost?forums=1)(
   make sure to refine the results by date). It also seems that your DB was updated
   and your files do not match. With such a conclusion, regrettably, we can only
   suggest you work with your host on the issue.
