# getting "cheating uh?" error using theme customizer

 * Using multisite. Tried with various themes. All themes using the customizer trigger
   the error.
 * Any suggestions as to how to debug this without totally disabling all plugins,
   thereby destroying the functionality of a dozen sites?

   one of them will make sense to your instance and provide a fix.

 * Yes, there are countless posts about it because this generic error message (which
   is snarky and unhelpful) relates to too many issues. I wish they’d get rid of
   it and provide something useful instead. 🙁
