 * Hi,
 * Ive built an intranet for myself to manage my clients, and im wanting to build
   a way to pull the latest version number of plugins. This is so i can keep records
   on my intranet of when plugins are updated, and get notified of when a new version
   is available of the plugin.
 * is there a XML file or another way that i can pull every day once, to check the
   latest version? I will then compare on my intranet, and it i need to i will do
   the updates on my clients sites.

 * Are you aware that WP 5.6 has plugin and theme auto-update capability?
    Here
   is the plugin where the feature was developed: [https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-autoupdates/#developers](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-autoupdates/#developers)(
   and this links to the Developers tab where there are links to the SVN repository
   and development log feed) The code in that plugin should be instructive for how
   to use the plugin API, if you think you need it.

 * Thanks Joy,
 * I will look into it. I’m still wanting to build it into my intranet, want to
   be able to auto check my clients sites from my intranet and then ensure backups
   completed prior to updating. I know it’s a bit over board, but hate having issues
   after upgrading. Plus then can set it up to do when I’m available.

 * Take a look at [MainWP](https://wordpress.org/plugins/mainwp/) as a way to manage
   the sites on your intranet. Backup before update is one of its options.

 * I use “backwpup” as the backup plugin to integrate with MainWP, FWIW.
