 * I write the blog for a local business and tonight I was messing around with the
   code (which I don’t really know anything about but have successfully messed with
   in the past) and now I get this:
 * Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/content/82/9331282/html/blog/
   wp-content/themes/thesis_182/custom/custom_functions.php on line 12
 * I can’t log in and I don’t know of any other way to fix the problem.
 * Help?

 * What file were you editing? You can use ftp to get to that file to change it
   if you cannot login.

 * I think it was the custom functions file.
 * I don’t know how to use FTP. Can you show me?

 * You will need to have a FTP software or you can just use File Manager option
   from your hosting control panel(if your service provider provides it).

 * Ok thank you.
 * I downloaded FileZilla but I’m not able to connect. I’m sorry, I’m really in
   over my head here. I don’t know what to put in for host. The address for the
   blog I’m working on is [http://blog.sweetbottomsbaby.com](http://blog.sweetbottomsbaby.com)

 * It looks like you may have issues with Malware on the site: [http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/blog.sweetbottomsbaby.com/](http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/blog.sweetbottomsbaby.com/)

 * Oh… that doesn’t sound good.
 * Ok so let me ask you this. My site is a blog for a small baby goods boutique.
   This blog hasn’t really been all that active. We just changed the name (though
   the address doesn’t have the new name in it) and are trying to make it more active
   now. I inherited this blog (hence the tinkering) from the marketing person who
   doesn’t work for us anymore.
 * I mean, would it be crazy to just start fresh? Make a new site with the new blog
   name. I have all the articles saved on my computer and all the photos and graphics.

 * If you have all the content, it would be easy to recreate if you don’t have the
   means to fix your old site.

 * I contacted the store owners and asked for the login information for the hosting
   site so hopefully I’ll be able to use FTP or the c panel. I’m not positive about
   which file to upload though. Any idea?
 * Also the site is working fine on mobile devices, which seems like a good sign,
   yes?

 * Do you have a backup copy of the file that you messed up? That’s what needs to
   be replaced or fixed.

 * No I just added something to custom functions file and it imploded like this.
   I think I need a fresh custom functions file but I don’t know where to find it.
 * I don’t really know anything about code. I’ve been redesigning the website and
   learning as I go. Trial-and-error-style. In this case, parse error.

 * You’ll need to ask about that on the [Thesis theme forum](http://diythemes.com/)–
   as commercial themes aren’t supported on these forums. But are there other custom
   functions in that file? I’d guess that if they are actually custom, no one else
   is likely to have your version of that file.
 * BTW, you may be able to just download that file, remove whatever you did and
   then replace it with the fixed one.

 * No I don’t think there is anything else custom. Someone else had previously made
   changes to the theme but I undid them.
 * Thanks for your help!
