 * Hi folks,
 * I’m very excited to get started with WP Data Access but have a question about
   initial app setup. I am starting from scratch, building out a database to be
   part of a website. I’m using the App Wizard.
   * I input all the App info (all
   original info)* It asks me to select a database (the support docs give no info
   on which I should use or how to create a new one, this is question #1)* It asks
   me to select a table (the support docs give no info on how to create a new table
   to begin with, this is question #2).If I skip this and start with “Tables” “Create
   a New Table” it asks me similar questions about Database and Table/view Name,
   and I’m not sure what settings to select/create there, either.
 * Is there an obvious support link I’m missing/not showing up? Or am I missing
   some obvious step I should be aware of? I’m quite comfortable working with tables
   but I don’t want to damage my brand new website by selecting existing things
   that have nothing to do with my table I want to create. Any help would be greatly
   appreciated!!
 * -Mike

 * Hi [@michaelhowie](https://wordpress.org/support/users/michaelhowie/),
 * Thanks for the post and we’re excited for you to try our plugin. 😊
 * The App Builder is used for tables that already exist in your database, so if
   you don’t have a table yet, you can’t create a data table/administration app.
    - How to Create a Database?
       * You can store your tables in your default WordPress database, but if you
         want to create a local database (lives in the same instance as your WordPress
         database), you can go to **WP Data Access** > **Data Explorer** > **Databases**
         > **Create Local Database.** See here: [https://share.zight.com/QwuyEwP2](https://share.zight.com/QwuyEwP2)
    - How to Create a New Database Table?
       * You can either execute a Create Table statement using our [SQL Query Builder](https://wpdataaccess.com/docs/query-builder/writing-queries/),
         or use our Data Designer. The Data Designer is a legacy tool that will
         soon be moved to the App Builder. Until then, you can still use it as is.
       * Here’s a demo on how to create a table using the Data Designer: [https://share.zight.com/QwuyEBQB](https://share.zight.com/QwuyEBQB)(
         note: If you don’t see Data Designer from the top toolbar, you can enable
         it by clicking on the Legacy Tools below the banner: [https://share.zight.com/YEub75z5](https://share.zight.com/YEub75z5))
 * I hope we were able to answer your questions! Let us know if we can help with
   anything else. 😊
