I’m putting this here so others may have more luck finding a solution, because GoDaddy is a) a popular host b) a little different when in comes to WordPress installs.

Famous Five Minute install not working on Go Daddy?

    14 steps to relief!

It’s a newbie guide (written by a newbie, I originally posted at the mu forum – doh!) so I don’t know how much mileage a veteran or power-user would get out of it.

The key part is step 14 – it drove me nuts. Because the email from GoDaddy tells you that your log in is Admin – its

      NOT

Anyway, I hope it helps someone.

    In the meantime, happy blogging

  • Please note that you are really not using the “Famous 5-minute Install” but rather what Godaddy calls their “Hosting Connection”.

If you are installing WordPress according to the Installing WordPress instructions, then WordPress does create a login called “admin” and the mail you receive does specify that correctly.

Hi Michael – thanks for the caveat. (The method I outlined is indeed NOT the WordPress “Famous 5-minute Install” – but an alternative method to getting your blog up and running on GoDaddy quickly)

You’re spot on, of course for correcting me, so thank you 🙂

But when you’re trying to install WordPress from the WordPress readme instructions you can run into lots of trouble if you’re a newbie (like lil ole me) and using GoDaddy for hosting.
Hope that helped clarify even further 🙂

I’m still hoping to share an easy and clearly mapped out method.
And now I was smart enough to actually allow comments on my blog (told you I was new and THANKS to theeriver for spotting that embarassing goof) I hope that folks will be able to give me feedback on how they got on. 🙂

    Thanks again Michael!
