 * Ive set up a Google Analytics account and am trying to copy and paste the code
   snippet onto my html webpage.
 * I have pasted the code at the top of my html webpage. To check if it is working
   I have gone into my webpage and View Source but I cant see the code anywhere.
 * What am i doing wrong. This is so frustrating so hope someone can help. I have
   been on all the Google help pages but cant understand it.
 * The website did used to be with a different hosting company and the old web developer
   did set up Google Analytics for the domain. I have set up a new website with
   a different hosting company, none of the old website exists, just the domain.
   Could this have something to do with it?
 * Thanks

 * what does this have to do with wordpress?
 * where to what file did you add the code?
    what method have you used to paste
   the code? did you save/update/upload the edited html?
 * without a link to your site, no one can even try to check and see if your code
   is there.

 * my site is [http://www.wolvestrees.co.uk](http://www.wolvestrees.co.uk)
 * i thought to copy and paste the code snippet i had to go into my wordpress admin
   and on my page i viewed it in html, then pasted the snippet at the top. I then
   saved the page.
 * this is only what i can understand to do, by the sounds of it it is wrong. Please
   help.
 * Thanks

 * as far as i remember (you will find the correct instructions within your analytics
   account somewhere, for instance in the help section: [http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55488](http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55488))
   the analytics code should be inserted just before the `</body>` tag (which you
   would typically find in footer.php of your theme)
 * also, there are plugins available to assist you with that.

 * [http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=174090](http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=174090)
 * [http://code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/tracking/asyncTracking.html](http://code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/tracking/asyncTracking.html)
 * I dont know what page it wants me to paste the code snippet onto, or exactly
   where abouts to paste it once i find the page.
 * I have deleted where i thought i was meant to paste it as when i went into Google
   verification it failed.
 * If anyone can give me step by step instructions that would be greatly appreciated.

 * 1. Please read this if you want to install GoogleAnalytics on a WordPress Blog:
   [http://onlinemarketbuzz.com/2009/06/16/how-to-install-google-analytics-code-to-your-wordpress-account](http://onlinemarketbuzz.com/2009/06/16/how-to-install-google-analytics-code-to-your-wordpress-account)

 * First of all, that is not correct. Please go to your GoogleAnalytics grab the
   code and paste it here:
 * > before the closing **</head>** tag
 * It will look the following:
 * >  _<script type=”text/javascript”>
   >  GOOGLE ANALYTICS CODE…. </script> **</head
   > >**
 * After you did that you will have to wait for some time after you receive the
   first data.
 * PS: You will find more instructions & help on goolge analytics help forums.
