Google Analytics 4 error with new tag?

    Hi, I recently upgraded to the new Global site tag via Monsterinsights.
    I checked using google tag assistant and all seems to be working.
    Ok so my issue is, when I go to set up Google Analytics 4 property I get this message right at the bottom:

    (Based on your current tag setup, you’ll need to install new tags on your site to use GA4.)

    Why would this be displayed if the tags have been upgraded with Monsterinsights?
    Also would I want to install new tags as the message is saying as surly I will duplicate things then?

    Please help, look forward to the reply.

    We spoke in MonsterInsights support already, but I thought the information would be useful for others, so I’ll share here as well:

    MonsterInsights recently made the switch to use gtag.js as the default tracker but we’re still working on providing proper support for Google Analytics 4 (GA4) properties.

    In the meantime, we recommend users stay with Universal Analytics tracking until we’re ready to reach out to everyone with a simple, seamless upgrade to GA4.
