 * I recently installed the GDE plugin. My excel doc does not appear on my post.
   I’m embedding the following syntax in HTML mode:
 * [gview file=”[https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&key=0AqkoLMcypsXKdFFCN0NLbGlsaXBBcDBoY0JweVlsaXc&output=html”%5D](https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&key=0AqkoLMcypsXKdFFCN0NLbGlsaXBBcDBoY0JweVlsaXc&output=html”%5D)
 * What am I doing wrong?

 * Hi Lambda,
 * Per the FAQ on WordPress and the Usage page on the web site, note that the viewer
   works reliably with local documents, not those stored natively on Google Docs.
   Try saving your spreadsheet and uploading it to your WordPress site (or any other
   public location) in its native format, rather than the Google Doc version.
 * This is a point of confusion with the Google’s viewer, and therefore my plugin(
   which embeds it). The viewer is used in Google Docs, thus it gets its name, but
   it’s being re-appropriated for use on other documents. The sharing functions
   of Google Docs natively don’t let the viewer work reliably in this fashion, though
   I know the irony is apparent…
 * Hope this helps.

 * Thank you Kevin. Now my question is how do I upload a doc unto my WP site an
   then have it appear on my post? I’ve tried using Slideshare, however I’m getting
   my doc along with their window pane, which makes the post look sloppy. Forgive
   my inexperience, this has all been very frustrating to implement and execute.

 * Hi again. Please forgive the lack of built-in uploading in the plugin. That’s
   a function I hope to add but the plugin is growing with my programming experience.(
   Read: I don’t know how to do that yet, haha.)
 * You can upload using WordPress’s built-in facility, or via FTP to your web site.
   In the case of the former, you can use the “Add Media” button above the editor(
   looks kind of like a star). Once the document is uploaded, get the URL of it
   and use it in the GDE shortcode (paste it into the URL box if you’re using the
   new editor button).
 * Using FTP you can manually put the file anywhere you want on your web site, ie.,
   create a folder for such documents etc.
 * Hope this helps.
