I’m running a local WordPress install (localhost) with the intention to export the site as a static website and deploying it online. Hence the reason I’m running it on localhost.

I want to insert Google Maps in my posts but I get the following error:

Google Maps Platform rejected your request. The provided API key is invalid.

I currently use the plugin also on an online host and it works fine there.

Is the API key issue related to WordPress being on localhost or is something else going on? Is there a way to fix it?

I’d like to let you know, this issue occurs when the address field is empty. I have tried the same at our end on both local and live site and it seems to be working fine.

Could you please confirm if your address field is empty or not?

Hi @brainstormteam,

You didn’t mention if it is the WordPress site address in WordPress settings or the Google Map address. But in any case, they are all filled.

I even made sure to open port 80 on my router. But I still get the same error

It is solved:

I think it was a port/router issue. After opening HTTP and HTTPS ports it started working after an hour or more. Cache had to clear.
