# Google Maps Load Optimization

 * When I show a map with the plugin, Pingdom ends up going crazy with:
 *  Remove query strings from static resources
    Specify a cache validator
 * from a bunch of google maps api resources. Is there a way to optimize this? If
   not, can I force the plugin not to load the google maps scripts, so I can use
   another plugin?

 * Sorry for the delay in responding. This got buried under a mountain of emails
   over the holidays and I’m just now seeing it.
 * Google Maps does load a ton of resources, but these are loaded asynchronously
   so that they don’t block the page render. Performance tools like Pingdom are 
   only guides and you should try to understand the true impact of any issue on 
   your site. It’s likely that the Google Maps assets aren’t having a big effect
   your time to first paint.
 * If you still want to remove the maps, you can use the options in the widget or
   the attributes in the shortcode. You can learn more about the shortcode here:
