    Hi,

I’m Trying to activate Google Site Kit on my website.

When I try to connect the Site Kit using my Google SSO credentials at the last stage, it gives this error “unauthorized_client”.

This is not the 1st time I’m linking google site kit as I have done it with about 4 websites.

    Kindly help me resolves this.

I’ll be glad to provide more information.

    Best regards.

Thanks for reaching out and opening a support topic. So we can try to determine the cause it would be great if you could share the following information:

    1. On the other sites whereby you’ve successfully connected Site Kit are these all using the same hosting provider?
    2. At what stage are you redirected with the error message shown? (ie. Specifically after clicking on “Sign in with Google”)
    3. Do you see any browser console errors on the same screen where you encounter this notice?

While I can’t be sure of the cause at this moment please do try to reset Site Kit after sharing the details above. You can do so via “Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit“.

    Thank you for swift response.

In response to your questions above

    1. No they are not using same hosting provider
    2. see screenshots below
    3. See screenshots

I did a reset as instructed

Now I passed the previous stage and got to the final stage that says I should go to my dashboard, I get the error “invalid_grant”.

I have inspected the page and it is blank.

Many thanks for sharing the additional insights, very useful. This notice can appear whereby the token from the Site Kit service is invalid or expired. After you revisit your Site Kit dashboard are there any additional notices displayed? If so please share, along with your Site Health information. We can then investigate this further.

You can use this form to share your Site Health information privately if preferred.

    Thank you James,

So I did a reset and decided to try the process again.

I got to the last page and got same error but this time, I inspected the page to check the console.

Thanks for sharing a screenshot on the final stage of the setup proceed. All looks normal from inspecting the details. So we can rule out plugins or theme related issues can you perform the steps below and inform me if you’re able to proceed?

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    5. Attempt to setup Site Kit once more

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

If you encounter the same notice please share your Site Health information and we can inspect your current setup.

    Hi James,

I have shared my Site Health Information

Many thanks for sharing your Site Health information. Based on the same errors appearing using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin please follow the steps below, which can help rule out any of your current hosting providers SSO sign in options conflicting with Site Kit setup:

    1. Create a new WordPress admin account on this impacted site
    2. Login to your WordPress site using this new admin account
    3. Attempt Site Kit setup.

If you encounter the same error message please inform me if the same occurs when using a separate Google account to setup Site Kit. If the same occurs I’ll setup a similar environment using the same hosting platform to try and recreate this issue.

Thanks for sharing. Back on your primary Site Kit setup screen at present does it ask you to redo the plugin setup?

Hi @wonu Checking in here – are you still seeing this issue? We’re happy to help you troubleshoot further.

@wonu As we haven’t received a response, I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!
