 * I am trying to set up a new website with Site Kit. After install I get the following
   error: google_api_connection_fail
 * I went through your support docs and downloaded the mini plugin and tried again
   but received the same error. I have done this with many sites without issue with
   the same host (Hetzner, servers located on the east coast of USA).
 * Tried this as well:
 * root@aon:~# curl -I [https://sitekit.withgoogle.com](https://sitekit.withgoogle.com)

 * Thanks for reaching out [@graphiclux](https://wordpress.org/support/users/graphiclux/),
   and also for sharing your command line checks. It looks like you’re not being
   able to connect to the Site Kit service over IPv4 as opposed to the more commonly
   raised issue with users impacted by an IPv6 block. The plugin you used ensures
   communication over IPv4 only. Please deactivate or uninstall this plugin before
   sharing the following the steps below, which can help rule out third party plugins
   impacting setup:
    1. Login to your live site from [a ](https://i.imgur.com/ALzgiHp.png)[Chrome browser incognito window](https://i.imgur.com/ALzgiHp.png).
    2. Install and activate the [Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check).
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and
       then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google“.
    5. Attempt to set up Site Kit once more.
 * Let me know how you get on with the above. If the same error remains, please
   share whether you see any warnings or errors when checking your Site Health status(
   [_Tools > Site Health > Status_](https://i.imgur.com/wSRWwon.png)), which differs
   from your Site Health information that you already shared. Such errors may include
   indications as to why you can’t connect.

 * Thank you.
 * I went through your steps. After installed and went to troubleshoot and clicked
   enable for Site Kit, the Site Kit plugin was not enabled so I could not set it
   up. I tried this several times. I then manually disabled all plugins but site
   kit and had the same issue.
 * I went to site health and the only warnings I get (no errors) are the following:
 * Disk space available to safely perform updates: Could not determine available
   disk space for updates. (There is plenty of disk space on the server, over 130GB
   left).
   Page cache is not detected but the server response time is OK.
 * Those are the only warnings.

 * [@graphiclux](https://wordpress.org/support/users/graphiclux/) Thanks for sharing
   the information that James requested that’s useful to have. Could I ask you to
   next try performing a [Site Kit reset](https://sitekit.withgoogle.com/documentation/using-site-kit/reset/)?
   After performing the reset, do you encounter the same issue when trying to set
   up the plugin?
 * Would it also be possible to try setting up a fresh new WordPress site on the
   same hosting setup if you have the availability and try installing Site Kit and
   setting up on this site without adding anything extra to the base setup? If this
   is not possible then no problem.
 * Any recordings you can also share will be very helpful. Let us know if you have
   any further questions.

 * I set up a new install of WP on the same server. I installed Site Kit on this
   and the same issue is happening.

 * Sorry to hear that [@graphiclux](https://wordpress.org/support/users/graphiclux/).
   Based on this, I suspect there may be an issue at host level. With that, please
   perform the below steps:
    1. Download [this mini plugin](https://gist.github.com/jamesozzie/b5be66ffe007ec124871b41da85fe794/archive/74952a26ad2aaa4539f08064f59a238e8f6ae905.zip)
    2. Install and activate as a regular WordPress plugin
    3. Attempt Site Kit set up once more
 * The above will help ensure communication with Site Kit is achieved over IPv6
   only. Let me know how you get on with the above, or ask if you have any questions.

 * Thank you. I am not getting that error anymore. This is what is says now:
 * Your site may not be ready for Site Kit
 * Looks like Site Kit is unable to place or detect tags on your site. This can
   be caused by using certain caching or maintenance mode plugins or your site’s
   frontend is configured on a different host or infrastructure than your administration
   dashboard.

 * Sounds like progress [@graphiclux](https://wordpress.org/support/users/graphiclux/)!
   Thanks for the update. From the checks I performed on your site I don’t see any
   obvious cause for Site Kit not placing and detecting tags on your site. While
   there are other ways you can verify domain ownership, you can perform the below
   steps, once more using the Health Check & Troubleshooting. This will ensure any
   potential plugins impacting verification don’t impact the verification tag:
    1. Login to your live site from [a Chrome browser incognito window](https://i.imgur.com/ALzgiHp.png).
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    3. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and
       then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google“ and also the
       plugin you installed to ensure IPv6 communication only.
    4. Attempt to set up Site Kit once more.
 * Another option to try and force verification if you’re logged into your browser
   with the Google account you used to set up Site Kit, is to open the below link(
   changing example.com to your own domain) and then the “Verify Site Ownership”
   grey button:
   `https://search.google.com/search-console?resource_id=https://example.
   com`

   share the information requested above and we can investigate further.
