Hi, I am doing some tests on my staging site.
I used only free GT translate and now I want to test TranslatePress to decide which one works best for me.
I have deleted GT translate and cleared the cache.
I activated TranslatePress and saved the changes.
The problem is that every time I click on a flag it does not translate it, and it redirects me on a page in my site which gives me this error :
    “Error 402: Payment Required
GTranslate subscription is inactive or expired for this website.”
and has a link to GT Translate homepage.
This happens every time I click on a flag on any page on my site.

I ‘ve contacted Translate Press support and they advised me:
–” Install “Wp data access” and access the database from the WordPress itself. There you need to look for the tables that the GT Translate create and delete them.
If you still have a problem with this issue my suggestion would be to talk with the Gt team and tell them that you want to clear the database from any remaining data.”

I used that plugin but i could not find any GT Translate tables (maybe i am doing something wrong)

How can I correct this problem?
    Thank you

    Hi,

I believe that you still have GTranslate installed and also at some point you have turned on sub-directory URL structure in GTranslate which added .htaccess rewrite rules for GTranslate (this is a paid version only).

Make sure to check your .htaccess file and remove GTranslate rules and also remove GTranslate plugin completely (the files in /wp-content/plugins/gtranslate). We do not add any database tables on your side.

If you check our paid version and compare it to TranslatePress you will notice that GTranslate is a cloud solution, which means that all the heavy lifting and translation storage will happen on our servers, while if you choose TranslatePress your website performance will be degraded. Also if you would like to get automatic translations, we provide them for free with your service, while in TranslatePress you have to pay additionally for automatic translations. We also provide you live chat support and offer sub-domain (es.example.com) and country specific domain (example.es) for translated languages, which is better for SEO compared to sub-directory structure (example.com/es). If you would like to compare, check our 15 days free trial: https://gtranslate.io/#pricing

    Thanks! 🙂
