 * Hi. I migrated servers and upgraded from 1.2.2 to 1.5 at the same time. So my
   url is different now. However, I did a mysql db copy and upgrade and there are
   some kinks. Also, currently, the guid for all the posts still is for the url
   of the old website, and not the new one. It doesn’t seem to have an effect but
   it still bugs me a little

 * This should help:
    [http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/](http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/)

 * GUIDs are permanent, they’re just for aggregators to know that a post is unique.
   They shouldn’t change even if you move your site around. GUID stands for globally
   unique identification.

 * I have the same problem…
 * k, so I altered the siteurl in the DB as suggested at tamba2.org… the only link
   that seems to fix is the login link now points to the correct URL all links to
   posts and pages point to [http://www.oldurl.com/?p=x](http://www.oldurl.com/?p=x)
   which is the value of the GUID… Please tell me I don’t have to go through and
   manually change all the GUIDs…

 * Rebuild your .htaccess file…. I had a problem recently where I moved a copy of
   my site to a new location. Things didn’t work right until I rebuilt the .htaccess
   file.

 * You should never change GUIDs, they should be permanent forever.

 * What if I don’t like my GUIDs… can anyone ever see them? Do they matter at all?

 * “_What if I don’t like my GUIDs_“
 * You don’t have to like them… 🙂
 * As Matt notes above (twice), there’s no reason to change them. Your RSS feeds
   are the only place the information is put to use (for the benefit of aggregators
   and some syndication readers).
