• I don’t need help at the moment as I’ve simply installed the Classic Editor plugin for now. But I am looking for some assurance, from people who may know more about me, that something will eventually be done about Gutenberg’s ugly habit of adding in or editing your code on the fly.

I directly code some of my pages to get them exactly how I want them to look – particularly the front page, which works differently to most of my site. When editing my front page today, I found that the code editor was closing my links before I wanted them closed, duplicating links in random places and generally monkeying with whatever I put in it.

It got to the point where I simply wrote the code in another window and pasted it into the editor. The editor immediately added in a bunch of stuff that broke it. I deleted, pasted again – editor did the same thing. It is literally taking lines of code and repeating them three or four times.

As I say, switching to Classic Editor has solved the problem for now, but I gather that is going to be phased out eventually?
