Hacking Polaroid Plugin

I am trying to get the polaroid plugin to give you the option of using the post_content field as a url link.
If the post_content field has a URL in it then when you click on the polaroid image it opens up a new page to the url. if the post_content doesn’t begin with http:// then it defaults to lightbox.

Here is the polaroid_gallery.php file that I have modified. I have put comments in the file to show what I changed.

Anyways, I do have clicked links but now it shows two of the same images and when you click the one that links out it just hangs. I figured when I removed the polaroid-gallery-item class the clickable link doesn’t hang..
