 * How can I hide the caption box completely so it does not cover the header image
   at all?

 * In order to remove the caption box, please add this to Appearance -> Customize-
   > Additional CSS:
 *     ```
       .frontpage-banner .box-caption {
       	display: none;
       }
       ```
