I am desperately trying to get wordpress installed with a Helm Windows Server. I have created my mysql 5 database with 1 user but I am having troubles with connecting wordpress to it. When I run the install.php script to create the wp.config file I am able to enter all the information until the host. localhost does not work and inside helm it shows the host being… Host:mysql5.[domainname] Port 3307 so then I put in mysql5.circulatingvibes.com:3307 like it shows… but then I get the database connection error and I have tried google and other variations without any luck. If anyone could provide help and tips on my problem here that would be great!

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mattzarr,

are you able to connect to the database by using any other tool?

    I found this from a hosting-provider.
    http://blog.jaguarpc.com/control-panels/howto-configure-mysql-to-work-with-helm/

Maybe there will be add. help resources at your providers site.

Thank you for that … I am using a HELM based server and think my problem is that I am providing a incorrect host connection string. Could you support me by suggesting what the proper host connection string should look like with mysql5. I think this is where my problem lies.

    Thank you!

agree, therefore it could be helpful to try to connect with a basic tool to the database.
Provide me some more information about your hosting partner, I’ll check it for you.

    Hi,

thanks for the screenshot and the link.
I could not do that much without login – anyway.
It seems that the root user has only local access (root@localhost instead root@% for global connections.

I tried to reach your server and got the message ” ERROR 1044 (42000): Access denied for user ”@’localhost’ to database ‘helm.circulatingvibes.com:3307′”

I found an article how to setup mySQL with helm and root@% here

    Hope that works for you.

otherwise we should have a save conversation so that you can provide me with login data… [Moderator note – do NOT ask for access to people’s sites on these forums]

    I’m
Sorry didn’t relize that was against the rules. Skype is a good option. I looked at the guide but I am not sure if those steps are possible with my server and how it’s configured.

    Thanks

sorry – I don’t want to break the rules, just want him not to send the login data by mail.
