Help – how to hide theme sidebars preferably using Custom Sidebars
-
Hello,
Could you please tell me if your plugin can hide a Theme sidebar on a specific post, and how to do so?
We are currently running WordPress 4.6.5 and the Lovecraft theme.
On one of the posts we are trying to target or hide the sidebar on we are also currently using the Parallax Scroll by Adamrob.co.uk plugin.I see that we can create custom sidebars with your plugin, and on the posts I can see that we could select which sidebars are shown, but I have not seen how to hide theme sidebars on specific posts yet.

You can try creating a blank widget area and in the post setting activate this widget area. It will leave an empty sidebar area.

If you want to completely remove the sidebar from the page you will need to contact the theme developer to see if they have an option for creating page templates.

Thank you – I will try that and could reply if the blank sidebar model successfully accomplishes the objective.
I have also contacted the theme makers, awaiting reply.
Many thanks jdailey!
Thank you for using Custom Sidebars. I am going to mark this topic resolved. If this issue was not resolved we can reopen it. Thanks again!
Hello again,
Even though I have set the Sidebar Location to a specific category and set the The Sidebar to be replaced for the specific category, I can not get the/see the in-post Sidebar options.
Additionally, since updating, the title of our posts are squished in the admin area into a roughly 15 pixel wide column on my rectangular standard monitor. I updated to the newest version of the plugin today.
I don’t think this method is currently working, or did I not have things configured correctly? Sounds like I will have to further test things.

Hello again,
I have marked the topic as unresolved again.
Fortunately, overnight, the post titles are normalized again.
We have also updated to the current version of WordPress.
Though, even when I select show sidebar in specific category posts on both custom and theme sidebar options also with specific archive category activated, the post sidebar options still do not display. Should I give this a day for the information to settle in?
Please help if you can.
Best,
ON Noah
Hi again,
Through a combination of toggling the options to show the custom sidebar in specific category posts, as well as in specific archive categories AND enabling the post Sidebar options via Screen Options, I was able to pull up the sidebar post menu and hide the theme sidebar on a specific post using a blank custom sidebar template.
Thanks jdailey and Custom Sidebars!
