Newbie here – I am using Theme Twenty Eleven and i was trying to change the Reply to comment box text last night and people told me to put different codes into my functions.php file all it did was give me another box so I deleted the code but I don’t think I deleted it properly and now I have an error anytime I access the pages and cannot do anything.

Can someone send me a text document of what the Twenty Eleven functions.php should be so I can copy it into mine and hopefully will fix my errors.

My email is [email address moderated – these forums do not provide support via email]

    My webpage is http://www.mrsgreenjeansplantsseeds.com

I know I have probably posted in the wrong place but I could not find where to put it in the twenty eleven theme forum…. sorry

  • Were you editing Twenty Eleven or are you using a Child Theme (like you should be)? If you were editing Twenty Eleven, just download a copy — http://ww.wp.xz.cn/themes/search.php?q=twenty+eleven — and get a fresh copy of the changed file there. And if you were editing a Child Theme, either upload a good copy of your own file from backup or temporarily rename the theme’s folder via FTP to deactivate it.

Awesome that is exactly what I was looking for is a fresh file.

    Thanks for the link.

Silly question – I use a Child theme but I thought that was just for the style.css – can I put changes for the functions.php in my Child Theme as well?

Yes, please! Leave Twenty Eleven’s functions.php completely alone and begin with only your additions and nothing more in your Child Theme:

Ohhh so you should have a style.css and a functions.php file in the Child Theme directory.

    Thanks all is good not.

    Mark are resolved.

you should have a style.css and a functions.php file in the Child Theme

Yes, and even more, if you wish. But with header.php, you would add the entire original and then make your mods there. So, always check about that first.
