 * Hi folks,
    Can you please help. I was updating a plugin on a wp.org site, walked
   away from the computer and one of my kids must have done something. When I came
   back, the screen is gone white with the following message : Parse error: syntax
   error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/81/6362881/html/scholastic/wp-content/
   plugins/tracking-code-manager/index.php on line 12 Nor can I simply view the
   site (outside of /wp-admin/ Thank you!

 * Do you have FTP access? Access to your website’s files and folders

 * Andrew, thank you.
    No the website is not mine. I was helping a friend by logging
   in as admin, just updating pages and plugins, etc. I did once build my own wp.
   org site, so I’d have some vague idea of ftp but can you remind me what to ask
   of the website owner please. Neither of us is a coder or website designer. Where
   do I get or where does she locate her ftp access? Many thanks.

 * You can gain access to your website’s files and folders (FTP) through your hosting
   providers. They usually have a tool that allows you to this.
 * To get the website up and running, you can utilise how WordPress automatically
   deactivates a plugin. WordPress automatically deactivates a plugin when you rename
   the plugin folder.
 * I would recommend going to the following folder:
 *     ```
       /wp-content/plugins/
       ```
 * Then looking for the ‘**tracking-code-manager**‘ folder and renaming it to something
   arbitrary. For example, renaming it to..:
 *     ```
       tracking-code-manager-old
       ```

 * Then renaming it back to its original name afterwards.

 * Andrew, thanks so much.
    I’ve accessed my ftp via my hosting provider. If I go
   into the ftp server, ftp://ftp.etcetc, I’m looking at 3 names under index of /,
   namely log/, tmp/ and webspace/. I can only access the latter and in there none
   of the folders is called /wp-content/ you refer to above. Am I in the wrong place?
   Thanks.

 * You’re in the right place. Go inside of the “wp-content” folder and then go inside
   of the “plugins” folder.

 * OK, thank you, so I eventually found the wp-content folder within the ftp via
   my hosting provider’s website.
    But I must still be doing something wrong or
   am in the wrong place, because at /webspace/siteapps/NUMBER/htdocs/wp-content/
   plugins/, where I see the list of plugins on my site, I cannot rename or delete
   them. Right-clicking does not give me these options, rather it gives the “save
   link as …” etc type menu.
