Help with inserting as tag

Hopefully somebody can help me out in here. I currently have the custom field template plugin installed as well as the wordpress mu global tags plugin. Users are entering data into the custom field template and the data is being exported as tags on that post.

It all works great except if I remove the save button from the custom field and just allow users to hit the publish button. It still adds the fields as tags but those tags don’t get passed through to the global tags loop. If after publishing you go back and hit update then on the 2nd update it does add the tags to the global tags loop.

Pretty much I just need a way to create the custom fields into tags BEFORE the global tags loop action takes place rather then after.
