# Hidden fields

 * Hi all.
 * I am trying to utilise a hidden field in one of my forms and I don’t seem to 
   be able to. Is what I’m doing impossible or am I doing it wrong?
 * I have put this field on my form: [hidden text text-848 placeholder “blah”]
 * When I reference the field in the mail message body, i.e. [text-848], the email
   produced simply includes the literal “[text-848]”.
 * If I remove the “hidden” modifier, the content of the field is inserted into 
   the mail message correctly. What am I doing wrong and/or how can I use hidden
   fields?

 * Thanks for the reply but that doesn’t appear to be related to my question.
 * When the form contains [hidden text text-848 “blah”]
   and the Mail message body
   contains ***[text-848]***I expected the email received to contain ***blah*** 
   but instead I get ***[text-848]***
 * When I remove the hidden attribute and the form contains [text text-848 "blah"]
   
   and the Mail message body contains ***[text-848]***the email received contains***
   blah***, as expected, but the field is displayed on the form, of course.

 * Doesn’t appear that I’m going to get any useful support regarding this question.
   Luckily I got a better level of response from another developer and no longer
   need Contact Form 7
