Hey Jean-Pierre,
Congratulations on having such a thriving site! You’re referring specifically to the Blog Stats widget, right? I noticed it was not currently on your site, but from web.archive.org, I can see that it used to be.
To sort this, please do the following:
- Purge all site caches: plugins, and anything server-side.
- Please install the the Transients Manager plugin and manually remove any transients that begin with
jetpack_restapi_stats_cache_
Let us know how it goes!
Hi there, @jean-pierre-martel,
Do you have updates about that, do you still need help? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!
My problem is still not solved. Is there another way to recover the 21 million hits on my site or should I give up on the idea of recovering them?
I used Transient Manager twice.
The first time, I deactivated all plugins except Duplicator, WP Rating System, Twenty Image Before & After, and WP-Statistics.
About the later, I was worried about losing all its data by temporarily disabling it.
As requested, I removed all entries starting with ‘jetpack_restapi_stats_cache_’.
Then, I reactivated all the plugins.
However, since I had deactivated WP-Optimize without clearing its cache, I used Transient Manager a second time after clearing its cache.
The result is that the cumulative number of hits increased from 117,389 to 132,609 last night and slightly more this morning.
In short, should I try a different approach, or is there another solution?
Hello again @jean-pierre-martel,
I found what appears to be an older version of your site under a wpdns.ca staging URL, and I see the ~21 million hits widget on it. However, based on this site’s source code, that widget is from WP Statistics, rather than our Blog Stats widget. Here’s a screenshot. Does that sound familiar?
If this is what you’re referring to and hoping to restore, that won’t be something we’re able to help with, unfortunately. I recommend reaching out to the WP Statistics team to see if they’re able to assist.
Good luck!
I was not aware of that copy of my blog
That said, I am impressed by your research and your professionalism.
Now, I know where the problem is (at WP-Statistics).
Thanks a lot. I appreciate.
Hello Jean-Pierre,
Thanks for your kind words. We are glad to hear we were able to identify the source of the problem at WP Statistics. I hope you can restore those stats on your site.
If you need anything else Jetpack related, please don’t hesitate to create another support request.
Have a nice weekend,
