# How do I enable the mail() function?

 * I’m new to all this and can not find a simple answer to my problem.
 * I am messing around with WordPress on my computer and have my blog site hosted
   on my Windows 7 computer. For the life of me I can’t remember my password. When
   I try to retrieve it by email I am presented with the following:
 * The e-mail could not be sent.
    Possible reason: your host may have disabled the
   mail() function…
 * I’ve been to this page [http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password](http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password),
   but the answer to my problem isn’t there (at least it doesn’t seem to be there).
 * All I want to do is have my password mailed to me. I do not want to reset my 
   password through some PHP admin console or FTP a file. There has to be some toggle
   or one liner I can paste in a file or remove some comments in a file to get this
   email sent to me.
 * PLEASE HELP!
