I can see in my source it is line 222 but I have no idea where the code is to delete it. Any ideas? It could have come their while editing the theme files, or because of old corrupt files. * You run an old version of WordPress. You need to update it. Try that. Do you think ‘–>’ is in the parent theme as opposed to the NextGen gallery plugin as it is right in the middle of my Nextgen thumbnails that it appears? * To replace my parent theme do I just delete it and reinstall it? So, it is not a bad idea to reinstall it. If that does not make any change, the next step is to check your own child theme. Pl do that, after that I will tell you where it can be.
