 * Hi,
 * Please can someone help me remove a line of code.
 * ‘–>’ has appeared on my site above thumbnail number 3 on the ‘work’ page of my
   site, [http://www.susierichards.com](http://www.susierichards.com). I can see
   in my source it is line 222 but I have no idea where the code is to delete it.
   Any ideas?
    Thanks Susie

 * –> appears on the page as it was typed in some of your theme files out side tags.
   It could have come their while editing the theme files, or because of old corrupt
   files.
 * You run an old version of WordPress. You need to update it. Other wise, you can
   face other problems while trying to remove the said characters.
 * So, update WP first.

 * `html body.page div.container div.container-inner div.span-24 div.content div#
   post-468.post-468 div#ngg-gallery-1-468.ngg-galleryoverview`
    Its just under
   above in css.Probably a remnant of a html comment,though what is was doing there??
   See div class=container-inner

 * Thanks Krishna, I’ve now updated WP. What should I do now? Would it be specifically
   in the NextGen Gallery plugin theme files or in Modularity Lite theme files?

 * loughcorrib should I be looking in NextGen plugin css? Can’t find it in nggallery.
   css. And I cannot find it in my style.css. Any ideas? Thanks very much for your
   help so far!

 * Generally this type of orphan characters are difficult to locate. There are two
   similar cases reported in the last few days. I will locate and post them here.
 * Now tell me, did you change the original theme, or did you create a child theme
   of it?

 * I have created a child theme.

 * Look at this link:
    [http://wordpress.org/support/topic/letter-f-shows-up-on-upper-left-hand-side-of-my-wp-site-on-all-the-pages?replies=31](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/letter-f-shows-up-on-upper-left-hand-side-of-my-wp-site-on-all-the-pages?replies=31)
 * If you created the child theme, you can easily replace your parent theme without
   losing your customization. Try that. Let us see if that solves the problem.

 * Thanks, I’ve read the link. Do you think ‘–>’ is in the parent theme as opposed
   to the NextGen gallery plugin as it is right in the middle of my Nextgen thumbnails
   that it appears?
 * To replace my parent theme do I just delete it and reinstall it? That’s it?

 * I should add that it has only just appeared, when I changed my thumbnails to
   be a 3 column and not a 4 and changed their size. It wasn’t there before that.

 * Yes, just delete and reinstall the Modularity Lite with a freshly downloaded
   copy.

 * I have deleted Modularity Lite and reinstalled it and then reactivated my Mod
   Child theme and –> is still there. Thinking it’s the nextgen plugin???

 * Generally, theme developers also update their themes to function well with the
   latest version of WP. So, it is not a bad idea to reinstall it. If that does
   not make any change, the next step is to check your own child theme. Pl do that,
   after that I will tell you where it can be. It takes a little time.

 * It appears at line line 216.

 * Possibly your guess is right (though not surely). If you use Firebug, you can
   see it between two lines of NextGen plugin codes.
