I’ve been using the plugin for a week or so now.
So far 13 carts have been abandoned.

Today 2 people recovered their cart – Great!

One problem though, one of the two their order failed. Yet your plugin says it’s recovered, completed and I recovered some €60 euros. Which I didn’t because one order failed. Some issue with the creditcard.

Regardless of that, how is the recovery supposed to work?

In this case, the original order was “Failed” because or some creditcard issue.
Now during the recovery, the user got a NEW order (new number) which also failed.

Cart Abandonment says it’s a recovered order and shows odd stats.
But now I have 2 failed orders from that user.

Shouldn’t the recovery actually recover the original order instead of making a new one? And shouldn’t Cart Abandonment not check if the order actually gets paid and completes before claiming it’s recovered and done?

What happens next when this person wants to try a 3rd time? Another new order?
Or is it actually going to recover the original or 2nd order this time?

I guess I don’t really get why the plugin creates new orders.
And why it assumes a recovery is a success, even when it isn’t.

Some room for improvement here πŸ™

The plugin should really stick with the ONE order, overruling the Failed (or whatever) status and going for Pending Payment as soon as the buyer starts recovering.

In a bad situation this will cause a huge mess of failed, cancelled and abandoned orders just because Cart Abandonment creates new orders where it’s not necessary. Not good.

Also, in the stats dashboard thing in the Cart Abandonment menu it should reflect the ACTUAL status of the order and not assume a result just because the user showed back up at Checkout again. This is confusing and misleading.

@adegans I am extremely sorry for the delayed response due to the weekend.

You can refer to this flow diagram of cart abandonment plugin working.

Cart abandonment plugin never deals with creating orders. It just captures the email ( to send the follow-up emails ) of the user who started checkout and never complete checkout within 15 mins.

As you are facing the problem with recovered orders which are actually failed for that we need to investigate into it & I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Can you please create a ticket on the support forum so that our developer can sort it out quickly?

    Thank you.

Same as me, you don’t work weekends. So no delay.

You have all the information here, just tell your dev to look here.

A double order was definately created and the customer who emailed me back replied to the cart abandoned email. So it is kinda implied that CA created the order because of the failed state. If she clicked the link in the email, there is no way she manually made that order.

    I’ve posted a support ticket.

It’s still being worked on in the ticket I posted.

Failed orders still show as completed in CF.
Still no resolution after your last questions a few weeks ago.

CF needs to better check the order status and not assume things like this – It ruins the recovered stats.

    User flow:
    Create cart, abandon it.
Recovery email is sent – User comes back, fails payment and thus doesn’t complete the order.

Stats in CF show the order completed and the “lost” revenue as recovered.
