# How to access header.php

 * Hello, I’m trying to access the file header.php so I can add meta tags to the
   code.
 * I have no idea how to access it though. Can I do it in my dashboard.
    I have 
   learnt from a preious post that you can under appearance/themes, but I do not
   have any edit button.
 * Could you please advise? Thanks

 * you are close,
 * its in appearances->editor
 * once in there, you will see all the associated files of your active theme listed
   on the right, header.php will be in there
 * Also, for adding meta tags, sometimes its best to use a plugin. like all in one
   seo
 * Reason being if you add the meta tags, they are static….unless you use some fancy
   conditional statements…. but with a plugin, you can add separate meta tags/descriptions
   for each post/page

 * Somehow I don’t have appearances->editor
    Only: Themes, Widgets, Extras, Background,
   Header, Typekit Fonds, Edit CSS
 * …? Am I on an old version?

 * ah, you can’t edit your themes then. this forum is for self-hosted wordpress.
   org blogs
 * wordpress.com has their own support forum, but either way, you won’t be able 
   to edit your theme on a wordpress hosted blog unfortunately
