Use Add Media to upload your pdf or .doc files to a post or page.
Hi esmi,
Thanx for your interest. The pdf is up on my site in Media, in the list of 5 items I’ve uploaded. In the Media, It is “Attached to” the Page I want it to appear in, but when I open that page it is not there. Back in Media, when I select “View” located under the pdf image, I’m taken to a new Page, that I didn’t create, and on that Page is a link to the pdf. When I select the link, the pdf opens. The Page and the link both have the title of the pdf.
I think this is a matter of correct routing or mapping, but I don’t presume to know if that’s the case. It just seems that I should be able to get the pdf into my desired location…what do you think?
You need to insert a link to that pdf in your page – just like you’d insert an image.
Hi again esmi,
When I uploaded and inserted the photos, it all happened automatically for me through: ‘insert photo’ in Page Edit. What kind of link…what could it look like?
So if I need to put a link into the destination page for a pdf, do I get the pdf, or a link to the pdf? Do I have a choice? Can I choose page location for the pdf as I could with the photos?
I know this is simple minded stuff for you, but when I know this I don’t have to ask again, and I can help others along who are just getting started. Thank you esmi.
Decide which page you want this link on and edit the page. Once in the Edit Page/Post, click where you want the link to appear in your page/post content then select Insert Media option (it’s close to the Insert Image on the toolbar).
Thank you esmi. I don’t know what I was or wasn’t doing but it’s working correctly now and I’m both relieved and a little more knowledgeable.
