How tro force an update

I have a condtional group which is not opening. I have a special case hereI have a user to click on an element outside the contact form 7. In another wordpress element. From that element I update a variable within contatc form 7, say this variable is called ABC. When I set ABC=1 the condionation should be triggered. But it does not happen. I assume it is because the ABC is set outside the contact form 7.
I use jaascript (getelementbyID) to se tthe ABC variable. It works fine if the variable is set from javascript in a js file included in the contact form.
If I on the form force an udpate by eg pressing “NEXT” (I use multistep) and then “PREV” then the group opens.
How can I forve the condtional plugin to see an update has ben made of ABC?
