# How will the end of PHP4 effect my blog?

 * I’m worried about this update:

 * My website is hosted at Yahoo Small Business and they have PHP 4.3. What if my
   hosting company does not upgrade to PHP5? What impact will it have on the blog
   I currently run there?

 * Eventually you will be unable to upgrade WordPress, and either have to find another
   host, or live with that.
 * I would open a ticket with Yahoo and point out that PHP 5 support is needed. 
   And if they say no, start looking for a new host.

 * Yahoo has a switch somewhere to switch your account to PHP5.

 * PHP4 has been officially [discontinued since August 8 2008](http://www.php.net/archive/2007.php#2007-07-13-1).
   You should strongly consider upgrading.
