# HTML artifacts

 * In the HTML Filter tab, depending on which HTML blocks I choose for my “Main
   HTML Block” and “Start of HTML to scrape” I often see HTML artifacts being left
   behind in the imported HTML.
 * See this screenshot: [http://screencast.com/t/XyKPvhgFHIuX](http://screencast.com/t/XyKPvhgFHIuX)
 * I am not understanding how to best use the “Main HTML” and “Start HTML” – not
   sure why there needs to be both of these options.
 * If you want I can record a video of my whole setup and show you or I an give
   you access to login to my WP to see it. Just email me directly at [patrick@churchbuzz.org](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/html-artifacts/patrick@churchbuzz.org?output_format=md)–
   thanks.
 * Thanks,
    Patrick

 * Hi,
 * Yes you are correct “Start HTML” should be all you need for most sites.
    The “
   Main HTML” option is to allow novice users the ability to quickly find a section
   of HTML code and scrape the site in easily. For some sites this may be all they
   need to do.
 * If you can give me an example of an HTMl artifact left behind I will look in
   to this.

 * Now that I am only using the “Main HTML” option I no longer see the artifacts.
   That seemed to only happen when using both Main and Start HTML options.
 * Thanks!

 * Hi Patrick,
 * I have uploaded a new version which is a bit more robust. The only thing which
   might help you though is the ability to remove strings from the post/page name.
 * Sorry the rest will take some more time to develop.

 * Thanks Alex… look forward to more changes!
 * By the way in my previous work on a solution for this, one thing I had to track
   was the changing of any URLs from the old site to the new one. And then from
   that I would make sure to output a 301 csv file that contained the old and new
   URLs. That is something else that will probably be needed.
 * Are you planning on such a feature?
 * Thanks
    Patrick
